December in Galveston starts with our Victorian Christmas Festival, "Dickens on the Strand". Moody Gardens' continues the Ice Land Sculptures and Festival of Lights. December 13th and 14th - Galveston Holiday in the Park at Saengerfest Park is chock full of Christmas music, the Holiday Market, and Santa Claus. Santa has quite a busy schedule on the Island, and is making the rounds to get everyone's Christmas Wish Lists. See more events here

We will have the 31st Annual Greek Festival on November 1st - 2nd at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 19th and Ball Street.

November 6th - 9th brings the rumble of 500,000 motorcycle enthusiast who will come to the Island for the Lone Star Biker Rally. Vroom, vroom!!!

Mini Monster Bash at Saengerfest Park

ATTENTION EVERYONE!! We have a ton of spook-tacular things in the works for this year 4th Annual Saengerfest Park Mini Monster Bash! Mark your calendar now for Saturday, October 25th from 1p.m. To 4 p.m. The festival is completely free to the public and will include assorted games and prizes, trick-or-treating at participating downtown businesses, face painting and a costume contest for children ages 0-11!

Galveston Police Step Up Enforcement During Holiday Weekend

District Attorney Declares “No Refusal” Weekend for July 3rd and 4th

(Galveston, TX) June 27, 2014 – The Galveston Police Department (GPD) will step up enforcement this July 4th holiday with the declaration of a “No Refusal” weekend by Galveston County District Attorney’s office. The “No Refusal” program is an enforcement strategy that allows jurisdictions to obtain search warrants for blood samples from suspected impaired drivers who refuse breath tests. The declaration is in place for Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4, 2014.

GPD will be sending extra patrols utilizing funds from the Impaired Driver Mobilization Grant. This grant is a Texas Department of Transportation initiative providing funds for local law enforcement agencies to conduct driving while intoxicated (DWI) enforcement waves and increase DWI arrests as part of the statewide "Drink. Drive. Go to Jail" program held in conjunction with the national Impaired Driving Mobilization (IDM) campaign.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of our community this holiday weekend and I am asking for the same commitment from our citizens and guests to be personally responsible and not drink and drive,” stated Galveston Police Chief Henry S. Porretto. “We must reduce our alcohol related vehicle fatalities and injuries, and we must do it as a community.”

Galveston Island 4th of July Weekend

Galveston Island to Host 3 Nights of Fireworks, Beachfront Parade for July 4th Weekend

GALVESTON – If you’re looking for a change of scenery to celebrate Independence Day, Galveston Island is just the place to make your holiday a true get-a-way. From fireworks over the beach to a traditional hometown parade, Galveston will offer plenty of excitement for the 4th of July.

After the parade, the island will host a 20-minute fireworks show over the Gulf of Mexico near 37th Street and Seawall Boulevard. The beachfront fireworks display – sponsored by the Galveston Park Board of Trustees – will begin at 9:15 p.m. See More

If you’re in town for the 4th of July, be sure to also check out The Curt Miller Magic & Comedy Show at the Moody Gardens Hotel. Movie Night on The Strand - Saturday, Jul 6th will take place at 7 p.m.

Grab your chairs, blankets and pillows and head to downtown Galveston for a free, family-friendly movie under the stars. Movie Nite on the Strand will take place at 7 p.m. July 6, with a showing of the film Chicago at Saengerfest Park, located at the corner of 23rd and Strand streets.

Disney Wonder Returns to Galveston November 2015

Disney Cruise Line announced that it will return to Galveston for the holiday season in 2015.

Starting in November 2015, Disney Cruise Line will offer a seven-night itinerary on the Disney Wonder to the Bahamas, which will include stops in Key West, Florida; Nassau, Bahamas; and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

There will also be a six-night sailing on Dec. 18, 2015 that will stop at Key West and Castaway Cay and a four-night Christmas sailing to Cozumel.

The cruise line also announced limited sailings in Hawaii and San Diego.
